The drawers only lack finishing, fronts and hardware.  I will finish this soon and start on the back end and top pieces.  None of the drawer insides will be visible when completed.

Here you see strings being removed along with all pins and screws holding the harp in place.

The harp weighs in at around 400 lbs.

I would suggest keeping the wood soundboard in place.  The front woodwork is fixed in place with glue as is the entire soundboard.

I could build drawers in the front along with a sliding table top that would come out as pictured in the examples here.  If I remove the glued soundboard and woodwork, I cannot guarantee that the crack on the sidewall would not get worse.  I could also open up the top right as a storage area.  Right now, it's an unused dead area.

This first picture shows a chip in the back leg.  I could repair it if I had the missing piece.

There is a crack in the cabinet.  It was repaired with a screw at some point.  I'll do what I can to make it look better but it shouldn't cause a problem.

The Mathushek Piano Co. started in 1862 and this piano serial number indicates that it was made before 1865.  It was probably one of the first from this company.  Made in New Haven by Jacob, Driggs and Mathushek.

I started to remove the pins but they are oddly shaped.  Unlike anything I have seen before.  I will need to order a wrench for these if one is even available.  Otherwise I will need to find a socket that will work with an impact wrench.

I think the flowers were added later.

The shape of the action is very interesting and different.

Our Disney trip is finished and I am now ready to start on a new pianodesk.  Here are a few pictures of the piano as it currently sits in my shop.  It is in good shape.  As soon as I can get it put back together, I will take pictures of any missing or chipped pieces.  The finish is thick and will need to be stripped in some places.  I'll know more after I get it sitting up.  I do have some video of the movers but have misplaced them.  I'm sure I'll find them eventually.

The first step will involve getting this heavy beast turned upright on its legs.   From there, we will start taking the harp, strings and action out of the pianos.  The goal is to eventually create something like what you see below.  I should be working on it all week.  The pictures below are examples of what we are after.
