Bolivar High School Chorus I Syllabus Course Description Chorus I: A non-auditioned
choir for students in the 9th grade. This
class serves as a preparatory class for students desiring
to be a part of the vocal music program. This choir
will participate in concerts and festivals during the
school year. Concerts Attendance: Each choir will
participate in three concerts during the school year.
These are the Fall Concert, Winter Concert, and Spring
Concert. THESE CONCERTS ARE REQUIRED AND ANY
UNEXCUSED ABSENCE WILL RESULT IN THE STUDENTS GRADE BEING
LOWERED A FULL LETTER GRADE. Students who miss
a required performance must bring a written note signed
by a parent explaining the reason for the absence. In
addition to these performances the choirs may participate
in music festivals in the Spring. Attendance at
these festivals will be at the discretion of the
director. CONCERT DATES
Fall Concert (October 28th) Holiday Concert (December 14th) Spring Concert (May 3rd) Attire: Chorus I students

This website will contain lots of information about
upcoming events, concerts, and information. Parents
and students are encouraged to check this site
occasionally to keep up with the BHS Music Department.
Grading System
Each student will receive 10 points
each day. If needed, points will be deducted based
on the students attendance, participation and
behavior. These points will account for 75% of the
quarter/semester grade. Attendance and concerts
will account for 25% of the quarter/semester grade. Point Deductions
Unexcused Absence (5-10 pts)
Excessive Talking (2-5pts)
Truancy (10 pts)
Off Task (2-5 pts)
Tardy (2 pts)
Music Not Out (2-5pts)
No folder (2 pts)
Referral (10-20 pts)
Gum, Candy, Food (2 pts) Tardies Students are expected to be in their seat when the bell rings or they will be counted tardy. Please refer to the Student Handbook regarding number of tardies allowed per semester. Activity Fee A $20 activity fee is required
for all students enrolled in the class. Please
make checks payable to Bolivar High School and return by
Friday, September 5th. Parents
will receive a detailed handout regarding the Activity
Fee policy. I look forward to working with you and creating an enjoyable experience through the gift of music. I am much more concerned about attitude and effort than I am ability. I demand that each student be on time, participate, and treat others with respect.
